53rd Venice Film Festival 2009 - a summary First of all I would like to address at this link
where Procacci talks about the censorship of the film "Frank" in Bobby Paunescu and where they say that the film will be released, if possible not censored and that if they could go back we will not cancel the screenings of "Inside the night" ... I would say that is a good sign!
This year's edition of the Venice film festival was, for me, very exciting ... in all sections of the Italian and American films held sway, only two Japanese films in general and then I read the synopsis I have seen fewer films that inspired me ... because for these films is a little 'inspiration to the synopsis, because they are always to be taken with the tongs and then usually try to guess the movies you might like or what appear to be avoided ...
Another negative note that many films that I would have liked to see have not been screened in Venice and Mestre, but only at the Lido .... (Peccato!!
The movie I saw °
Videocracy (videocracy) by Erik Gandini, Sweden.
Synopsis . My Rating: 7 / 10
E 'a documentary about Italian television, and in particular focuses on some people who run predominantly access to broadcasts TV and popularity, is part of this discourse also the "character" Berlusconi, but is not a film about him. It is also a documentary photographer, a situation, the intention is clearly to denounce this same situation, but I think if he saw someone he admires the world of TV and gossip or Berlusconi, would not necessarily be disappointed ... because the situation would have photographed him for a deepening of that world that both reveres ...

Metropia Tarik Saleh, Sweden. Synopsis
. My rating: 8 / 10
E 'an animation film and science fiction, my "vote" is a bit' "pumped" for the strange animation techniques used in film (
example). In 2026 the next life will be a version a bit 'more than it is now gray and dingy, but is also the year in which a powerful corporation will be able to find a way to manipulate the minds of men (project started in the '90s when they were put the cameras to spy on the TV viewers) ... The film is part of the vein "we are paranoid, we want to control ... however, one side is a trend that may not have all the wrongs, and the other is an interesting movie, even for small things boundary, especially the reality show "Asylum" in which the public vote of the participants who will obtain permission residence and who gets expelled! -_-That it is almost a reality!

Dohawa (Buried Secrets) Raja Amari, Tunisia. Synopsis
. My Rating: 4.5/10
There is an annual film that I regret seeing this year is this. I was expecting a film about women and the comparison between traditional life and modern life ... I found myself watching a movie of sordid family secrets ... The protagonists are a mother and her two daughters (though ....) who live segregated from the world to atone for their sins initially unknown and to avoid a repeat ... these secrets bring them to madness, a slow process at the beginning (when the secrets were still such) that degenerates rapidly as they are revealed ... leading to a Glossy carnage ... The climax occurs when the smallest of the protagonists (say between 16 and 18 years) in the arms cradle the skeleton of a dog, thinking it was that of a child ... Is not for me!

Anurag Kashyap's Dev D , India. Synopsis
. My rating: 7 + / 10
Devdas is a tragedy very famous in India as a kind of Romeo and Juliet in Europe, there are several film versions (read more
). I saw this film shortly after seeing the 2002 version, so I was expecting a "melodrammone" in which love of the two main characters can never be achieved despite tough etc etc ... Dev D however is very different, just takes inspiration from the original, but then continues on his way ... I am sorry to have seen him immediately after the other because I continued to shop as if there was a version of "right" and "wrong." Instead it is a film that I think should be taken for himself. Dev speaks of that is instinctive, full of himself and exaggerated in his responses, he speaks of Paro (but he talks too much) she thought that Dev's love, she is a bit 'the road "obvious", a traditional, Dev for caprice does not follow and you lose ... Chanda and talks about a girl who has led the life of prostitution in the arm ... Dev Chanda and will seek ways to divert their path to a life that has hope for a future ... The film is very strange, even for the director and other stylistic devices, has a soundtrack "important" that imposes itself on the words in many scenes, there are little moments idiotic, and also has a message of redemption and understanding which gives some relief the viewer (or at least to me: P).

Zarte Parasiten (Tender parasites) Christian Becker, Oliver Schwabe, Germany. Synopsis
. My Rating: 6.5/10
This film is one of those movies you'd expect (with a little 'injury) from the film festival, a bit' slow and that's not clear what it means to you, but nice ... The protagonists are two "soft parasites", two young men who aspire to accumulate things, "physical" goods, so that does not even have a house. They try to earn what they need to live making it useful for helping people. She is a kind of caretaker of an elderly woman, instead he will try to enter the life of two parents mourning the loss of her son ... here is the true story of the film, as the boy moves in the balance between the "social mission" and opportunism, and how this second aspect rock the boat between him and the girl, between the comfort and lifestyle difficult to maintain without skidding towards what "all" have or want: comfort, home, hot water, a family, stability ... actually I'm not sure that the film would have this message, it looked more like a snapshot of the lives of these two guys, maybe it's me that I "wanted" read this meaning ...

Gulaal Anurag Kashyap, India. Synopsis
. My rating: -
Ingiudicabile ... Why? Why are the subtitles of this film was made so much evil that it was virtually impossible to figure it out!
A notice attached to the door of the cinema informed that the subtitles had "glaring errors in translation" ... it was just that! The translation seemed to be made with an automatic translator, the sentences were meaningless, were only a set of words, which were the literal translation of the original ... no adaptation context ... There were also some words in English placed there every time, or things like 'll o' s scattered here and there ... scandalous! Had left them in English would understand more!
From what I understand, also according to the story I had read before seeing the film has two plots interwoven, one part the story of a little boy a 'simpleton and his fury unleashed by a lie of the woman who love, the other (and that seemed to be more interesting) I do not know which involved a conspiracy / political revolution in which the boy against his will is to be a player ... the fact is that as long as it was the first plot was pretty basic, maybe you could tell even without subtitles, the second one was hard to understand why he spoke of political intrigues and plots, plus I have not the slightest knowledge of history of Indian politics, then its not been easy to figure it out ...
seemed interesting because it all turned around an "aristocrat," his son, who joins the revolution, and the thirst for power and revenge of two illegitimate sons ... in any case if I had the opportunity to see him in doubt whether I would do it because the desire to understand the story might not be strong enough to convince me to review a film so violent ....

Soul kitchen Faith Akin, Germany. Synopsis
. My rating: 8 / 10 It's nice to see
a pretty funny comedy and a bit 'different from the usual film festival!
The film I really enjoyed it especially because it tells a different story than usual, with a different character than usual, also talks about the kitchen ... and then it's fun, even if some scenes are just from "laughter elementary (in particular those related to back pain of the protagonist).
During the film the protagonist and the people around him will be able to understand each other better, to grow, to learn not satisfied with the same defrosted and fried cod fillet (both metaphorically and literally)! : P

Sefra-Wahed (One-zero) Kamla Abu Zekri, Egypt. Synopsis
. My Rating: 7.5/10
A good film in which the lives of eight people meet each other on the day when Egypt won the African Nations Cup (football). And 'nice because with this kind of structure we spectators can get a taste of many different aspects of Egypt, even if it prevails as the main theme a sense of discomfort and inadequacy, especially in social relations and relations between modernity and tradition. Plus I did not think football in Egypt was so then the situations that are created around the game and his vision made me think of Italy during the World Cup or anything like that!
interesting and pleasant, is melancholy but not sad!

At Mosafer (The Traveller) Ahmed Maher, Egypt. Synopsis
. My Rating: 5.5/10
A strange movie, I did not understand much that wants to send message, if you really wanted to send one.
The main character was annoying me and quest'antipatia background coupled with expectations of a completely different story then what was actually meant that I have not liked the film ... although they are not good reasons.
The structure of the film is strange because it speaks of only 3 days in the life of a man, 3 days for him to have occurred years apart. The main character seemed more like a selfish, and only in the final has a glimmer of regret watching the fruits (or lack of fruits) of your life ... strange movie, final depressing, but the fact that there is a real redemption or maybe a happy ending makes it more interesting!
TO SHOW FILM THAT I HAVE SEEN OVER °
The Big Dream by Michele Placido, Italy. Synopsis
. My rating: 6 + / 10
This is an autobiographical film, in fact, as his main character, Michele Placido in the years of '68 was a policeman. Placido my opinion has not risked enough, and that is not centered around the film from the perspective of this "cop-case" or more like "cop to stay," but moved, often overwhelming, the camera on a girl who marries the ideals of the student movement (and later workers) and the consequences of his "bourgeois family" ... I think this second plot was not original, having already, I would have liked to follow rather than the cop-actor and understand more choices and positions.
°
Cosmonaut Nicchiarelli Susanna, Italy. Synopsis
. My rating: 7 / 10 Film
nice mix politics of the early '60s and romantic relationships within a group of young activists of the Communist Party. I thought that the "adolescent" was not present, but is a nice film, shows a fact that in some ways it seems so far away from today (so young and so busy? Having to remarry in order to support his family?) and timeless issues (women in politics, internal divisions on the left, she loves him but he prefers pretty to Round - although in this film takes a turn too optimistic about the "usual" reality: P -).

matter of point of view Jacques Rivette, France, Italy. Synopsis
. My rating: 6 + / 10
Unfortunately I have not seen this movie a perfect day ... sometimes it is so, like some movies more because you saw them on the day most suitable ... Instead I have stuck a thousand things to do and tired of a period a bit 'challenging, but it's not my fault, here they have taken only one day, and then I saw that day or anything!
Indeed, although it is a stereotype, you see that is a French film ... is a bit 'slow, and the situation looks more like a pretext to stage beautiful people who have dialogues of the original features and ... dialogue ... French! I do not know how to say!
In at least two points, the three-dimensional scene and slide film, it becomes a bit 'flatter and artificial as a stage play, I liked it very much!
But the story itself ... Dunno, it seemed a bit 'thrown there, it was merely a pretext for staging of pretty odd characters and situations ... or maybe it all depends on the fact that I saw while I kept thinking about all the things I should do ... which would remove the poem from anything!
Ah, another thing, I usually am not one of those opposed to dubbing, but I would like to hear how he spoke Castellitto in French!
